Dream come true for Aussie artist > New York bound

Aussie photographic artist John Lechner describes his excitement about coming to New York City “It’s always been a dream of mine to hold a solo exhibition overseas. Not to mention in the arts mecca of the world.

While I travel the world to capture breathtaking shots (particularly at either end of the day), the beauty in my own backyard inspired me to curate the My Australia collection.

I want to show New Yorkers’ My Australia; bringing gum trees to the big apple. The Hunter Valley is approximately 162kms (100 mi) north of Sydney and boasts some of the best beaches and wineries in the world. It is also my home.

I chose to exhibit a boutique collection of eight limited and open edition prints documenting Australia as I see it, in all of its colours and glory; from the fiery reds and purples of sunrise over the Pacific Ocean, spectacular greens of a native forest waterfall, to the unique colours in Australian sandstone.

I visited New York in 2014 to participate in two RAW group exhibitions. These exhibitions together with my involvement in a local Business Networking International (BNI) group enabled me to make connections with local gallery owners and curators.

Experience a little bit of Australia. Whether you visit the exhibition or have time for a coffee when I’m in town, I would love to show you My Australia.”

Visit the exhibition. The My Australia exhibition will run from 2nd June til 30th June at New Century Artists Gallery, Chelsea, New York. The opening reception will be held on the 6th June, 3pm- 6pm.
