Face the Planet was established with the goal of raising funds for environmental organizations through a fun, interactive virtual playground that gets everyone involved.
Donors make virtual purchases of worldwide landmarks, such as Times Square, just like in a game of monopoly, and then select the charitable organization their money goes to.
Details of their purchase and donation, are shared as a social network update, to generate buzz around the causes they donated to.
They also get bragging rights from their picture being displayed on a map, and a badge with a designation, like “Planet Guardian”, all posted to their social profiles, attracting donors that wouldn’t normally donate.
